Doulas, Pregnancy, & COVID-19 (corona virus)…

EDIT 3/20/2020: As this situation continues to develop, changes are happening in the doula world too. ProDoula has called for the temporary halting of all in-person services, switching to Virtual Support. Childbirth International developed a new course for ensuring needed safety practices during COVID-19 and offered it to its doulas. Some doulas are petitioning hospitals to continue to be allowed in during this crisis, others are pulling back. I am of the opinion that every woman has the right to determine what is best for the birth of her baby, so she needs to have an open conversation with ALL of her care team about ALL the risks (and not just risks to herself).

study (albeit small) on whether mothers with COVID-19 pass it on to their infants ~ including how their babies were delivered and what the implications might be. Here.

The National Perinatal Association has a wonderful set of graphics in this Facebook album.

Research indicating pregnant women are not an increased risk and on transmission to their unborn babies available here.

Position statement on doulas in delivery rooms from the AWHONN available here.
