Ten Unique Stocking Stuffers for Christmas, 2020

This is not typical content for a doula blog, but I wrote a similar post last year & it was popular so I thought I’d do a new one for this year! Stockings are one of my favorite parts of Christmas; it’s the delight of small packages bringing so much joy, and finding special ways to share with the people I love. It’s sort of like a game, too, with bonus points earned for gifts that aren’t wasteful (although I will never apologize for chocolate in a stocking) and fit someone’s personality perfectly.

Here’s a list of some of my favorites!

1) Garden Seeds - My children loved these in their stockings last year. I chose things they each loved (which meant we had: carrots, cilantro, peppers, cherry tomatoes, and sugar baby watermelons). It’s so much fun to pull these out in early spring to get them started, after the luster of shiny Christmas has worn off - the promise of spring is still there along with joyful Christmas reminders!
>> Baker Creek Heirloom seeds is my go-to for seed packets. They also offer free shipping!

2) Tea Or Hot Cocoa Packets - We drink tea pretty liberally in this house & giving children their own little tea stash in their stocking is so much fun! Peppermint tea is usually a good option (especially with the next stocking stuffer!) - I also love Celestial Seasonings’ Bengal Spice, as it’s caffeine free and amazingly sweet/spicy with just a dash of milk. Stash Tea also has an organic chocolate orange.

3) Honey Sticks - Mess free when cut open & squeezed into a cup of tea. Or just sucked on for a delicious kick! And I’d like to give a shout out here for Hunter’s Honey Farm - you can order honey sticks from them in different sized packages with different flavors.

4) Lip Balm - This is especially helpful right before the bitter cold of January & February hit in Indiana, and children always love having their own tubes! If you’re looking for a small business to support, Anna Louise Farm is a company I love.

5) Crayons & Colored Pencils - I usually scoop up extras of these during back to school sales especially for Christmas stockings. I also highly recommend the Ooly art supplies from Flourish Studio in Lafayette!

6) Small Magnifying Glasses - Children love being investigators & having a magnifying glass of their own gives them so much investigative pride. ;) You can get a three-pack at Amazon here.

7) Sticker Books or Bookmarks - I love shopping at Second Flight books for gifts like these in Lafayette!

8) Small Candles for adults & teenagers- Antique Candle Co, a locally-owned company, has fun sample packs available on their site.

9) Mittens & Winter Hats - I also love to hang mittens on the tree as a Christmas morning surprise…. handmade knit-goods make terrific gifts always (these cup cozies from Wildcat Creek Supply Co are adorable & I also love the Simply Stitched Shop in Zionsville!)

10) Play-doh & slime kits - Flourish Studio has some fantastic holiday scented & themed play-doh on their site that would be so perfect for stockings!
